A FARMER'S DAUGHTER

A farmer's daughter

Once a farmer had a daughter. She was very imaginative. One day her father gave her an earthen pot full of milk. She was to take it to the market for selling milk. She put it on her head and went to market. On the way her imagination started working. She thought there would be great rush of buyers. Her milk would be sold out in no time and it would bring her a lot of money.
With that money her father would deal in cotton. She felt that, after a few months he would become very rich. He would then receive many offers for her marriage. Her mother asked her to marry with a rich and handsome young man. She tossed her head and said that she would refuse like that.
As 'soon as she tossed her head the earthen pot fell down and it broke into pieces. The milk was all spilt on the ground. She returned full of great grief. All her hopes were dashed to the ground.
